About the author:
Rev Kenneth Ernest Roach is a former coal miner and a retired URC pastor. He was born in Kenfig in South Wales. After working as a coal miner in Kenfig Colliery, he retrained as a minister and served as pastor in America and England. He was student pastor in Sherman Mills, Maine; he witnessed the early formation of the United Reformed Church when the Welsh Congregational chapel in Utica, New York, merged with its neighbour to form the Plymouth-Bathesda URC; and finally Ken returned to Bristol in the UK where he served as minister for Castle Green URC until his retirement.
