From Coalpit to Pulpit

£8.99

Rev Kenneth Ernest Roach is born into the hardship of a poverty-stricken coal mining community in 1920s South Wales. When, at the age of fourteen, he takes his place by his father’s side in the dangerous underground mine, his life seems set to follow a predictable path. But this is a true story of unexpected turns.

From Coalpit to Pulpit is Ken’s uplifting account of an extraordinary journey from the poverty and strict religious fundamentalism of his childhood to the pioneering life of a Parson in America and England. Experiencing rural Maine, the excitement of 1960s Utica, NY, and Bristol in England, this is a book about daring to embrace life’s journey.

“Each of us has a challenge in the ‘pack of cards’ that life has given us, and the privilege to do what we can …”
