Calling all poets – we’re calling for poets to join an open mic event for the first Cirencester History Festival set for October half term.. The event is free – just turn up and prepare to showcase your best original poetry with a history twist!

The event is a drop-in open mic, running between the hours of 11am and 2pm. Poets of all ages are invited to join this family friendly event. The work should the performer’s original poetry and have a connection to history, but how you interpret that theme is up to you …
As this is an event for all ages, content of the poetry should be family friendly, so not too violent or too adult. Crumps Barn Studio publishes poetry by authors from across the UK, including the special anthology Artefact featuring work inspired by the Corinium Museum collection, which has been produced specifically for the Festival. A number of poets from the anthology will be taking part on the day.
Excitingly, online community radio station Cirencester Radio will be coming along to record the event and their recording will be broadcast at a later date – so not only will you be able to take part in a live poetry event, but you’ll be part of a radio broadcast too!
Poets can simply turn up on the day or register their interest by emailing us
We’re really excited to be bringing together the poetry community to share an original response to history and it’s going to be brilliant to collaborate with Cirencester Radio in this way. We can’t wait!
