Festival of Cats, February 2023

What are we looking for?

Original 2d artwork – giclee prints are only acceptable if the work is a signed original artwork by an illustrator or digital artist.

All 2d work must be framed, including oil paintings. The maximum frame size is 50cm (outer measurement) along the longest side.

3d work must be self-supporting, suitable for display on a pedestal – we do not have access to special fittings or props. Maximum size of an individual 3d piece is 40cm along the longest side.

This is a cat themed exhibition, so we’d like your submission to be connected in some way to cats or their role in our lives. The scope within this theme is enormous. We love both figurative and semi-abstract work.

Submissions should be available for sale. You should include your recommended RRP in your submission.

If you are notified that your artwork has been accepted, you must be able to deliver your artwork to the studio shop in Cirencester between 27 and 31 January, within opening hours.

Exclusions:

Photographs are not accepted, sorry.

Artworks without a cat connection are excluded, sorry.

Giclee prints of paintings, pastels or drawings are not accepted, sorry.

All participating artists must be based in the UK.

About the exhibition:

This exhibition will be a celebration of cats and their role in our lives. The show will run throughout February and be free to all.

We will be publishing a book alongside the exhibition, and also showcasing our other titles which feature cats.

This event is designed to provide an opportunity for artists and visitors, and to lend a bit of cheer to the winter months.

The exhibition will be at our studio shop in Cirencester. You can find out more about the shop and visitor information on our companion site www.crumpsbarn.online

Costs:

There is no hanging fee or submission fee. All artworks must be for sale. We will retain 40% commission from all sales.

Insurance:

All entries are submitted at your own risk. We particularly recommend that high value artworks are insured by the artist.

Guidelines for framed works:

Glass or picture perspex acrylic are both acceptable.

All 2d artwork except for oil paintings should be presented behind glass/acrylic. Position with a card mount within a frame, or if appropriate, float your artwork within a box frame.

Oil paintings should be framed without glass. No unframed box canvas, sorry.

We hang using a picture rail. Please attach a hanging string using picture D rings to the back of your frame, positioned about 1/3 from the top of your frame.

Please paste a certificate of authenticity to the back of your frame – or write the name of the piece clearly in black ink on the back of your frame and sign with your name.

What to submit:

Submission is solely by email. Please note: NO SUBMISSIONS IN PERSON THROUGH THE SHOP.

Your email should include the dimensions of your work and the medium. Also include the recommmended RRP for each piece.
