Information for Artists

We are delighted to be showcasing artists who are committed to their professional practice. Submission is strictly by email. Please see the guidelines below.

We often accept one or two pieces on loan for a period of 6 to 12 weeks. You are welcome to submit your work for consideration. You should be UK-based and we’re particularly looking for artists who work in paint, printmaking, and other 2D artworks such as original collage, pastel, drawing and mixed media. We also offer opportunities for sculptors and ceramics artists.

Artwork should be original (no giclee prints), framed (for wall-mounted work) and available for sale. Smaller pieces are ideal, due to the size of our bookshop.

Framing conventions: we prefer bare wood frames or painted wood. Foil laminated composite frames are not suitable, sorry.

If you think your work would be suitable for exhibition in our studio shop, please get in touch >

Submission guidelines

Please email images of your work to events@crumpsbarnstudio.co.uk stating the dimensions of the work (including frame size if applicable) and the RRP.

No submissions are accepted through the shop, sorry.

There is no hanging fee, we retain 40% commission from all sales.

If your submission is successful, you will be invited to deliver your work to the bookshop during opening hours.

Opportunities for solo shows

We also occasionally collaborate with an artist to hang a larger body of work as a solo show. These events usually tie in with a book launch. Artists who wish to submit work for these opportunities should write a short outline of the concept behind their show or the theme they are currently exploring. Work should be recent and not previously exhibited.

The work should relate in some way to your developing practice.

If you would like to be considered for a solo show, please get in touch >

Past exhibitions:

Home Ground

27 January – 23 February 2024

A collaboration between paint and the printed word: artist Alison Vickery examines her relationship with her local landscape, and how returning to the same locations brings change and new experiences into her work. Visitors to the show will be able to enjoy a rare opportunity to explore Alison’s sketchbooks alongside finished work.

This is an exhibition about taking a closer look at the practice of an artist who has a strong relationship with a specific landscape. In conjunction with the show, we will be publishing a collection of poetry and short stories by the same name, featuring authors who share Alison’s sense of connection to their own corners of the UK.

Join us for an informal private view on Saturday 27 January, 10:30 to 4pm. Free admission
